I've been reading how often/common the SRT leaks boost, but my question is...how do you first know? Especially in your case, how did you determine where/how you were leaking?

A very redneck way.
I'll post pics later tonight for ya. We used a paint cap, a coupld of clamps, an air hose and soapy water. I was loosing around 4-5 lbs of boost. Which, sucks!

tighten every clamp on the car. at least 1/2 of them will be loose. and search the srt forums for a leak tester.

If you have not gone over your clamps you Sir have a boost leak I'm sure. Back in the day when I was trying for 11's on the stock turbo i was checking and double checking for boost leaks all the time. On most cars it's not a big deal since they have bigger turbos running lower boost. We are maxing out the little turbo and we need every PSI we can get. Get some T-bolt clmaps and spend a few hours replacing the junk factory clamps. |

Easy to make boost leak tester:
Parts Valve stem A radiator hose big enough to go over the end of the turbo inlet (doesn't have to be a radiator hose, but they work good, especially if you can find one with a 90 degree bend) PVC sewer endcap just small enough to fit on the INSIDE of the radiator hose 2 hose clamps How to make it Drill a hole in the PVC cap just big enough to seat the valve stem in (it should be tight). Insert the cap into one end of the radiator hose and clamp it down. Tada! How to use it Take the intake pipe off the turbo, put the radiator hose on the turbo and clamp it down (you may need or want to trim the hose so it fits the way you want). Cap off the line going into the intake (or would be going into the intake on a stock intake system). Get your air compressor set to slightly above what your car boosts, hook up the tire attachment to the valve stem and let 'er go. Boost leaks will sound like high pitched whistles, you might need to crawl under the car to hear a couple really good. |

I used some PVC pipe and a reducer with a air compressor fitting so i didnt have to worry about bleed down. ohh and your boost gauge will register how much boost your putting threw with whatever source of air your using.

When everything is sealed up tight the boost gauge will leak down very slowly. Like 1psi every 10sec.

you dont really need to check for leaks, just zip tie EVERYTHING really tight and tighten EVERY clamp really tight. and your good to go. just do that about twice a month. i was spiking like 18 falling to 14 or so and i went and did all that, and then i spiked 21 fell to 16-17.. huge difference..
