View Full Version : Building a 350-400hp SRT4

If you could build from scratch, or start all over....what parts would you have done in order to reach this goal of 350-400hp.
Here's my situation.
My ideal goal is to achieve a streetable car, rarely tracked, but more of a weekend car. Reliability is key, but respect is superior.
I bought MY srt4 for it to sit around like a hot rod, until the weather is nice to drive. I currently have 450 miles and will sit the rest of the winter. I make excellent money, so with a $3-$4k budget to work with, what would you do all over again, or from scratch.
I'm already going to run the Injen turbo-back exhaust, and most likely a SRI of some brand....probably an Injen.
I'd like to have a bigger turbo, but still being a turbo n00b I was told I would be better just getting the stage 3 and call it a day. :?:
Please fill this n00b in and provide some educuated opinions as to why you would do it this way.
Thank you in advance.

wife is running s3 on her car, with cai, complete exhaust, dasmopar intake and throttle body, clutch master 6 puck clutch, and a few little things, getting exactly what you are looking for, it is her daily driver, and track car. hope this helps you out alittle.

i dunno, i just read an article about a s/c g35 that picked up like 70whp from one. it was on sportcompactcarweb.com if anyone wants to read up.

i call bs, the intake prolly sucked it in. you would be lucky to pick up 5whp.

ya in order for those to be useful you would need to build some sort of box around the intercooler that dumps away from the car and is no where near the intake.

Where can you buy stage 3 no toys for $2300? Lowest I have seen was like $2900.

Oh contrair....my buddy has a Civic SI with a GReddy turbo kit on it and it has an intercooler sprayer and it picked up 28whp peak on the dyno and about 32-35 midrange :eekdance:

Next time he is on the dyno video the sprayer and the intake filter, I would be willing to bet that you will see a short burst of nitrous going into the intake, which leans everything out and makes more power. Even better dyno it with the sprayer on with a intake rigged to a long tube ending it about 10 feet away from the car, thern dyno it normally with the sprayer on. I bet it makes a lot less power with the long tube hooked to it.
Vector where are you?...

If you have ever seen the air inlet for the GReddy kit it sits over the radiator hose and about 8inches above the tranny, its really not possible that the inlet gets nitrous in up there since the IC is way below it. The sniffer showed no sign of leaning out, it stayed at 12.0 the whole time the IC sprayer was on.

Are you telling me that someone is useing NO2 in their intercooler chiller instead of CO2 that sounds a little dangerous.

Thats what most people use, kinda hard to understand why though as a small (50hp) wet kit will cost the same and probably show more gains.

are you talking about the loop that mounts on the intercooler that you use to lower intake temps or something else

Thanks jdp
Interesting read right here... lots of negative points of using the nitrous on the sprayer.
